Vertcoin (VTC) was created as a GPU-mined version of Bitcoin in January 2014 as response to Litecoin succumbing to ASIC control. The Vertcoin community believes it is important for everyday people with desktop computers to be able to mine successfully so that network hashrate is as decentralized as possible.
Feel free to check out the official website and block explorer to get more familiar with Vertcoin before continuing. You can also find a summary of Vertcoin metrics and other resources on our Vertcoin page.
1. Obtain suitable hardware
✅ Vertcoin can be efficiently mined with GPU and FPGA devices.
❌ Vertcoin cannot be efficiently mined with ASICs or CPU cards.
View our Miners page to discover the most profitable devices for Vertcoin mining.
And don’t forget to check our Mining Hardware Tools page to download the necessary software for setting up your device.
2. Obtain a wallet address
You’ll need to get a wallet address if you don’t have one already. A Vertcoin wallet address is required for you to receive and monitor your mining revenue.
f2pool distributes mining revenues on a daily basis to every user who reaches the payout threshold, which is 1 VTC. f2pool’s payout scheme is 3% PPS.
We recommend using the full node wallet. After installing it, click Receive to get your new wallet address.
To receive payouts, you can also choose an exchange, such as Bittrex. Note: You should always do your own due diligence when choosing a wallet provider or exchange.

You will need to use VerthashMiner for mining Vertcoin.
4. Configure mining software
After you have downloaded VerthashMiner, uncompress it, find the
verthash.dat file from the full node wallet folder, and copy and paste it to the VerthhashMiner folder.
You will also need to find the

workerName is optional, but we recommend labeling each of your mining devices with a separate
workerName for more efficient monitoring.
