Litecoin

Litecoin is a decentralized, peer-to-peer digital currency originally forked from the Bitcoin source code. Launched in 2011, Litecoin was one of the earliest cryptocurrencies to gain major traction.

Litecoin’s proof-of-work algorithm features a 2.5-minute block time. The team’s willingness to integrate new technologies has led it to be viewed by some as a testing ground for Bitcoin.
